Samuel Alschuler not only was a candidate for governor of Illinois in 1900, he also was a pioneering Jewish candidate in the world of Illinois politics. Alschuler lost the 1900 election, but later became a federal judge who played a big role in the Chicago meatpacking arbitrations cases. This 2 1/4 inch celluloid is from his 1900 campaign for governor. This sharp sepia is from the Bob Rouse collection. Excellent.
