This 2 1/4 inch celluloid was made for the Alf Landon Notification Day in Topeka, Kansas, on July 23, 1936. The big event featured a parade and reportedly attracted 100,000 people, even though the temperature broke 100 degrees. This scarce pin survived the event and the weather and is in excellent condition today, more than 80 years after the event.
